Fossombrone

The Capuchin friary of Fossombrone is located on Colle dei Santi and overlooks the city of Fossombrone: to reach it, one must walk an uphill stretch of 3.5 km. It offers pilgrims the opportunity to be welcomed the evening before departure to begin the journey with an initial experience of encounter with the Capuchins. The facility provides three rooms furnished with Franciscan simplicity. It is necessary to notify the friars in advance to verify availability, also because on certain days the friary is engaged in offering retreats and spiritual meetings, and every Friday observes a retreat day for the friars residing at the friary.

N.B. Capuchin friaries do not have employed staff and accommodate limited numbers of pilgrims (indicated in the information for each friary) to foster a personal relationship between the friars and them. We ask those who wish to be welcomed at Capuchin friaries to observe the following guidelines:
– book in advance;
– preferably bring a sleeping bag liner or sleeping bag;
– observe the arrival times indicated in the information for each friary;
– stays at the friary are for one night only.
