Transport and connections for pilgrims
On this page, you will find all the information you need to organize your arrival at the start of the Capuchin Trail and your return journey after your pilgrimage. We have listed the main public and private transport links, specifically designed for pilgrims departing from or arriving at the key stages of the route.
Arrival in Fossombrone
For those coming from the Adriatic coast:
from the A14 motorway, exit at Fano and then take the SS73 Bis to Fossombrone.
Exit at Fossombrone Est and follow the direction to Fossombrone.
For those coming from the Tyrrhenian coast:
> from the north: reach Arezzo. Then Città di Castello, Apecchio, Piobbico, Acqualagna, Fossombrone;
> from the south: reach Perugia. Then Gubbio, Cagli, Acqualagna, Fossombrone.
For those coming from the Adriatic coast: arrive in Fano and from there take the Adriabus buses that depart for Fossombrone approximately every half hour. For bus departure times, see the schedule.
For those coming from the Tyrrhenian coast:
> from Rome: on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday there is an Amibus bus that departs from Rome Tiburtina (box 15) at 4:00 PM and arrives in Fossombrone at 7:45 PM (change at Acqualagna).
> from Rome: there is also the Roma-Marche lines (RML) that depart daily and arrive in Ancona (FlixBus).
From Ancona, you can take the train to Fano station and from there the bus to Fossombrone.

For those coming from the Adriatic coast:
arrive by train at Fano Station. From there, the Adriabus buses depart for Fossombrone (7:40 AM – 12:40 PM – 4:40 PM – 8:40 PM). Those wishing to use buses departing at other times can walk to Fano il Pincio (about 1 km) and from there take the bus (25R Red Line) to Fossombrone, which departs approximately every half hour (from the first at 6:00 AM to the last at 8:35 PM). For those coming from the Tyrrhenian coast:
> from the north:
train to Bologna. In Bologna, change trains for Fano. In Fano, take the bus to Fossombrone.
> from the center-south:
train to Ancona (or Falconara Marittima) and then from Ancona (or Falconara Marittima) change trains for Fano. In Fano, take the bus to Fossombrone. For bus departure times from Fano, see the Adriabus website.
Return to Fossombrone from Camerino
Camerino > Fossombrone
From Camerino, take the bus to Fabriano
Departure times:
5:50 AM – 6:15 AM – 6:40 AM – 8:00 AM – 11:55 AM – 12:50 PM – 1:35 PM – 4:50 PM – 7:40 PM.

From Fabriano, a second bus departs for Fossombrone (departure times from Fabriano “Terminal Dante”: 12:40 PM and 1:30 PM).

Alternatively, you can take the bus to Civitanova (departure times: 6:20 AM – 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM). In Civitanova, change trains to Fano and in Fano take the bus to Fossombrone. For bus departure times from Fano, see the Adriabus website.
Arrival in Camerino
For those starting the second part of the journey.
For those coming from the Adriatic coast:
> from the north: take the A14 motorway and exit at Ancona north. Then take the SS76 to Fabriano. From there, take the SP 256 through Cerreto d’Esi, Matelica, Castelraimondo, and arrive in Camerino.
> from the south: take the A14 motorway and exit at Civitanova Marche. From there, take the SS 77 to the exit for Camerino.
For those coming from the Tyrrhenian coast: reach Foligno and then take the SS 77 to the exit for Camerino.
For those coming from the Adriatic coast:
arrive in Ancona or Civitanova Marche and from there take the Contram line bus to Camerino, see Contram schedules.
However, from Ancona or Civitanova Marche, you can reach the Castelraimondo station in less time and from there take the bus to Camerino.
For those coming from the Tyrrhenian coast:
> from the north: arrive in Perugia and from Perugia take the bus to Camerino (Contram Lines) or to Foligno and from Foligno to Camerino (Roma-Marche
lines).
> from Rome: there is a daily bus that departs from Rome Tiburtina (stops at Orte, Terni, Spoleto, Foligno) and arrives in Camerino. It usually departs at 12:50 PM and arrives in Camerino at 4:00 PM. Check the Contram schedule.
For those coming from the Adriatic coast: arrive at the Civitanova Marche station. Change trains to Castelraimondo. From Castelraimondo, take the bus to Camerino, see Contram schedules.
For those coming from the Tyrrhenian coast:
arrive in Foligno and from Foligno change trains to Castelraimondo.
From Castelraimondo, take the bus to Camerino, see schedules.
Return to Camerino from Ascoli Piceno
Ascoli Piceno > Camerino For those doing the second part of the journey.
For those coming from the Adriatic coast:

Private Transport
Through an NCC service (chauffeur-driven car hire) and a luggage transport service. To share the same trip with other pilgrims, you can contact local NCC services. For transfers to intermediate stages other than those listed, you can arrange directly with the NCC service providers.
